Inspired by real events, the film recreates the fateful flight after 1975, when the initial joyful atmosphere quickly turned into a nightmare.
On the flight from Da Nang to Saigon, security guards Binh (Thanh Son) - eagerly returning to welcome their first child - and security guards Son (Ma Ran Do) suddenly faced a group of bandits led by Long (Thai Hoa). Together with accomplices Ti (Vo Dien Gia Huy), Dan (Ray Nguyen) and Suu (Bao Dinh), Long controlled the entire passenger compartment, threatened pilots Phong (Xuan Phuc) and Khanh (Tran Ngoc Vang) to force them to change their route.
Women who seemed weak like the two housewives Trinh (Kaity Nguyen) and Nhan (Tram Anh) also became a spiritual support. The trailer touched Trinh's tearful line: "No matter what you're doing, no matter what you hear, don't open the door!". While the right wing is steadfastly holding on to the brunt of hope, the group of not robbing is cold, cruel, ready to kill innocent people.
In just 2 minutes, the trailer pushed up the drama withprise-breaking confrontations in the cramped space of the plane's compartment. The film exploits a clear contrast: one side is courage, sacrifice; the other side is selfishness and violence. Long's cold eyes and cold saying: "If you want to live, you have to kill" make the audience shiver.
Death in the Air is the first Vietnamese film to exploit the non-pirate theme, with the main setting taking place in a plane a closed space that requires a lot of creativity in film staging and rhythm. Director Ham Tran and the cast hope to bring a cinematic experience that is both thrilling and emotional, honoring the "heros of peacetime" who dare to stand up to protect the peace of the Fatherland's sky.
The film is expected to be released nationwide from September 19, 2025.
