To have a more comprehensive and realistic view of the character, Song Luan and the crew of Cong Tu Bac Lieu went directly to Bac Lieu province, met with local people and the family of the real-life Cong Tu Bac Lieu prototype to learn and verify the story.
It was from these encounters that Song Luan realized a little-known aspect of the character, which was his kindness and concern for those around him.
The young master of Bac Lieu is actually a sentimental person and always treats people fairly, regardless of rich or poor, and is willing to help people of lower status in society such as beggars or drivers.
According to Song Luan, the Prince of Bac Lieu can be called a generous and rich person, not a playboy as many people thought.
The excitement of discovering new things about the character made Song Luan immerse himself in the role. During the preparation time before filming, Song Luan constantly thought about the character even during daily activities.
Another very important aspect in building the image of the Prince of Bac Lieu is his ability to use French and dance – two factors that help to exude the elegance and “Westernized” style of someone who studied abroad in France.
To help Song Luan express his French dialogues well, the crew of Cong Tu Bac Lieu arranged for him to practice directly with a French teacher. At first, Song Luan had a lot of difficulty with the intonation and speaking speed of native speakers, to the point that the actor had to wake up at 4-5 am every day to practice his lines.
Song Luan's efforts were rewarded when during a practice session, his French teacher suddenly said that he completely understood what the actor said, even at a very fast speed.
Prince of Bac Lieu is expected to premiere from December 6, 2024.
