Duong Tra Giang is one of the contestants attracting attention at the "Miss Student Vietnam 2024" contest. Her face is said to resemble actress Jun Vu and the character Ha Lan in the movie "Mat Biec".
Duong Tra Giang was the contestant who won the golden ticket in the online semi-final round, and was given the right to choose one of the three mentors of the contest: Huong Ly, Le Hoang Phuong, and Lydie Vu. In the end, Tra Giang chose to join runner-up Huong Ly's team.
During the preliminary round of the competition, Duong Tra Giang wore a modernized Thai ethnic costume and received high praise from the judges. "This inspired me to take ethnic costumes out of the museum space or remote mountainous areas, to become everyday clothes, both stylish and imbued with Vietnamese identity" - Duong Tra Giang shared.
Duong Tra Giang said that when she took on the role of receptionist at the hotel, the beauty had the opportunity to wear the ao dai and introduce it to international tourists. She took the guests to choose fabric and order ao dai, thereby helping them understand more about traditional culture and love Vietnam more.
Besides the ao dai, Duong Tra Giang also hopes that other costumes of the 54 ethnic groups will be more widely known. That is the reason she made a photo series with impressive costumes of the Thai, Dao and H’mong ethnic groups.
"These three ethnic groups are the most populous groups in Vietnam, after the Kinh people. Ethnic costumes are often distinguished by the sophistication of each embroidery and embellishment detail, and the vibrant color combinations, which contain profound stories about the spiritual life and culture of each region," said Duong Tra Giang.
Duong Tra Giang combines traditional costumes with modern accessories such as necklaces and earrings to bring a modern and fresh breath.
Duong Tra Giang was born in 2005, currently studying Marketing and Communication at the School of Business Administration, Hanoi National University.
To participate in "Miss Student Vietnam 2024", Duong Tra Giang is determined to lose 12kg in 2 months. The 19-year-old female student is 1.7m tall, weighs 49.6kg, and has measurements of 82-60-90cm.
The final round of the contest will take place on December 15 in Ha Long, Quang Ninh with the presence of host Ha Anh, mentors including: Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 - Le Hoang Phuong, 1st Runner-up Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 - Huong Ly, Miss Supranational Vietnam 2024 - Lydi Vu. The contest is invested in a grand, professional manner in a reality TV format.
