The film is inspired by the Lam Son uprising - one of the important historical events of Vietnam.
The project was announced at the Lam Kinh historical relic site (Thanh Hoa), a land associated with the uprising led by Le Loi. According to the plan, the film is expected to be released to audiences in 2028, on the occasion of the 610th anniversary of the Lam Son uprising.
Set in the early stages of the uprising, "Chien Bao" tells the story of Le Loi's journey from a Thanh Hoa young man carrying the pain of losing his country to a person who stood up to gather heroes, arousing the spirit of national unity to fight against the Minh Dynasty's domination.
Sharing about the project, Victor Vu said that he always feels small when standing in front of the heroic pages of the nation's history. The director expressed his desire to retell the story of the Lam Son uprising in modern cinematic language with respect, gratitude and responsibility to history.
This is not only a story about battles but also a story about patriotism, the desire for freedom and the indomitable will of the Vietnamese people," the male director shared.

According to Victor Vu, unlike previous historical works such as "Thien Menh Anh Hung" or the series "Detective Kien", "Chien Bao" is oriented as an epic - historical film. The crew does not aim to create a magnificent work in terms of form but focuses on recreating the fierceness of war and the journey of ordinary people making history.
Producer Dinh Ngoc Diep said that the crew approached the project with humility in the face of the great historical stories of the nation. She said that historical and cultural films are receiving increasing attention from audiences, especially young people.
