On June 2, Cam Khe District Medical Center informed that the Department of Emergency - Intensive Care - Artificial kidney, Cam Khe District Medical Center received 7 cases of hospitalization due to heat and fever on June 1 alone.
The common point of the patients is that they work outdoors in harsh, hot weather conditions for a long time. After that, the patients showed symptoms such as fatigue, muscle contraction, cramps in their limbs, etc.
After being hospitalized and given initial care with fluids, electrolytes and cooling the body, most of the body has stabilized.
The most serious case is old woman N.T.H (65 years old, residing in Huong Lung commune, Cam Khe district). According to the family, Ms. H went to work at 9am. At around 11am, Ms. H was found lying unconscious in the middle of the field and was then taken to the emergency room.
When arriving at the hospital, the patient was in a coma, had weak syntonal reflexes, wheezing, had a high fever of 39.5 degrees Celsius, had red skin, and had a drop in blood pressure of 80 50mmHg. Doctors immediately placed an endotracheal tube, took a ventilator, infused and resuscitated him.
After 5 hours of treatment, the body temperature and vital signs were stable, and the patient was transferred to a higher level for further treatment.
According to MSc. Dr. CKI Nguyen Thanh Thuy - Deputy Head of the Department of Emergency - Intensive Care - Artificial kidney - warned: "Hot heat causes dehydration, electrolyte disorders, reduced blood circulation, seriously affecting organs if not given timely emergency care".
Doctors recommend that people should limit working outdoors in the hot sun, supplement enough water, wear protective gear during work and proactively cool the living and working space to prevent the risk of dangerous heatstroke.
