The Da Vinci Xi surgical robot system, one of the modern surgical technologies, marks an important step forward in the development of high-tech surgery. Immediately after receiving and completing the transfer, on the morning of January 3, FV successfully deployed a complex pulmonectomy surgery for a 72-year-old lung cancer patient.
Dr. BS.CKII Dang Dinh Minh Thanh, Head of Thoracic Surgery Department cum Head of FV Robotic Surgery Center, said that the patient was diagnosed with two small lung nodules, including one located deep in the pulmonary tissue, a difficult-to-access location, posing a risk of having to switch to open surgery if traditional methods are applied.
With the support of Da Vinci Xi robot, the team cut off the entire upper lobe of the left lung and extensively drained the lymph nodes, the surgery lasted 3.5 hours, with little blood loss and no complications recorded.
According to FV Hospital, the investment of more than 3 million USD for Da Vinci Xi is not only aimed at improving accuracy and safety in complex surgeries, but also a preparation step to launch the FV Robotic Surgery Center, providing high-quality medical services, close to Asian standards for Vietnamese patients.
