Patient D.T.N, with a fibromyalgia tumor measuring up to 120x90mm, is equivalent to about 4 months of pregnancy.
Previously, the patient had been diagnosed with uterine fibroids for many months but had not been treated. When pain in many lower abdominal areas appeared, the pain increased, and the patient decided to go to the Cam Khe Regional Medical Center for examination and surgical intervention.
Here, doctors from the Department of Obstetrics and Reproductive Health Care conducted examinations, performed paraclinical tests and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The results showed that the patient's uterus was abnormally enlarged, the uterine bottom was at the level of the navel, inside there appeared a large tumor with many lobes measuring 120x90mm, accompanied by signs of endometriosis.
After a professional consultation, the doctors decided to prescribe surgery to completely open the abdomen and remove the uterus. This is a complicated surgery because the tumor is large, deep, occupying the entire subcracker and sticking close to neighboring organizations, making it difficult to remove and control bleeding. The surgery required the surgeon's team to operate very meticulously and skillfully to minimize the risk of complications, ensuring absolute safety for the patient.
After nearly 1 hour, the doctors successfully performed the surgery, completely removing the uterine fibroid tumor, weighing up to 01kg (real weight). The patient recovered well and was discharged after 6 days of intensive treatment.
Dr. Ha Thi Hai Huong - Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Reproductive Health Care, Cam Khe Regional Medical Center said: Uterine fibroids are a common disease in women, especially middle-aged women, are mostly benign and can be treated easily if detected early. However, many women are still subjective, not going to see a gynecologist regularly, leading to large tumors, seriously affecting their health and possibly causing dangerous complications".
