Carrying a large breast tumor for more than a year due to psychological hesitation, Ms. V.T.M. A, 50 years old, from Ninh Binh, only came to the hospital when the tumor grew too large, causing pain and seriously affecting daily life.
At K Hospital, doctors successfully performed surgery, removing a tumor with a diameter of more than 25cm, weighing nearly 4kg and preserving the breast for the patient.
According to the patient, she had noticed an abnormal mass in her right chest for a long time, but due to psychological shyness, she did not go for an examination. Over time, the tumor grew faster and faster, causing obvious imbalance in both breasts, causing pain, discomfort and hindering many daily activities.
When examined at K Hospital, the examination and diagnostic imaging results showed that the patient had a very large right breast fibroid tumor, about 25cm in diameter.
Dr. Pham Hong Khoa, Head of Quan Su Examination Department, K Hospital, said that the patient was admitted to the hospital in a stable general condition, but the tumor had grown too large, deforming the breast and posing a potential risk of rupture and bleeding, seriously affecting health as well as quality of life.
After consultation, doctors decided to prescribe surgery to remove the entire tumor and maximize the preservation of the breast for the patient.
The surgery was carefully prepared by the team of doctors at K Hospital. During the surgery, doctors completely removed the tumor with a diameter of 26cm, weighing about 3.5kg, and successfully preserved the mammary gland.
Due to the size of the tumor being too large, the surgical team must pay special attention to controlling blood loss and closely monitoring vital signs to ensure absolute safety for the patient.
Dr. Pham Hong Khoa said that if not intervened in time, the tumor can rupture, ulcerate, bleed, cause prolonged pain and lead to many dangerous complications. Patients delaying examination for a long time is regrettable because if detected early, treatment will be much simpler, recovery time will be faster and the psychological burden will be significantly reduced.
Currently, the patient's health has stabilized after surgery. The patient and his family could not hide their joy when they escaped the inferiority complex due to the too large difference between the two breasts, and no longer had to carry a heavy tumor affecting their daily lives.
Doctors recommend that women should actively monitor their breast health, have regular check-ups and self-check for abnormalities in their bodies.
When detecting tumors, swelling, pain, deformity or any abnormal signs in the mammary gland, people need to go to specialized medical facilities for examination and timely treatment, to avoid the disease progressing severely, causing difficulties for intervention and affecting long-term health.
