On April 8, Viet - Han Da Nang Hospital said that female patient V.T. T. V. residing in Nui Thanh commune, Da Nang city, had previously not had regular gynecological examinations due to no obvious symptoms. On March 31, when abdominal pain appeared, the patient went to the medical facility for examination.
Through ultrasound and clinical examination, doctors discovered that the patient's left ovary had a large tumor of about 14cm, with many walls inside. This is a potential condition that affects health and reproductive function if not intervened in time.
After consultation, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department team performed surgery on April 3. The surgery went smoothly, the tumor was completely removed, and at the same time, the reproductive function for the patient was maximally preserved.
After a period of treatment and active monitoring, the patient's health recovered quickly. By the afternoon of April 8, the patient was discharged from the hospital.
MSc.BS Bui Thi Vien Phuong - Deputy Head of Obstetrics Department, Viet - Han Da Nang Hospital - said that ovarian cysts are a fairly common disease in women but often progress silently, with few symptoms in the early stages.

Many cases are only detected when the tumor has grown large, causing pain or compression. If detected early, treatment will be simpler, and the patient's reproductive function can still be preserved," said Dr. Phuong.
Sharing after treatment, the patient said that she previously thought she only had a common abdominal pain, so she was quite subjective. Only when she was admitted to the hospital did she be surprised when she was diagnosed with a large tumor. After surgery, her health has now stabilized.
According to doctors, ovarian tumors can exist in many forms such as functional cysts, organic tumors, and even in some cases malignant tumors. However, because the disease often has no typical symptoms, it is easily overlooked or confused with common disorders.
Experts recommend that women should have regular gynecological check-ups every 6-12 months, even when there are no abnormal signs. When signs such as prolonged lower abdominal pain, menstrual disorders, abnormal abdominal enlargement or frequent urination appear, they need to go to a medical facility for early check-ups.
