Two Chelsea players become Enzo Maresca's worry

Reece James and Romeo Lavia returned to the starting line-up for Chelsea's defeat to Liverpool, but manager Enzo Maresca is still not confident about the pair.

In round 8 of the Premier League, Chelsea visited Liverpool. In a rather tight match, The Reds won 2-1 against their opponents. Salah and Curtis Jones scored for Liverpool, while Nicolas Jackson scored 1 goal for Chelsea.

Before Liverpool, Chelsea also received some good news about their squad. Captain Reece James made his first appearance this season, after struggling with injuries. In addition, midfielder Lavia was also given a chance to start.

As expected, both James and Lavia did not create many breakthroughs and were replaced quite early. After the match, coach Enzo Maresca admitted that he was not confident with the above duo, according to Metro: "For James and Romeo, the maximum playing time will only be 45 minutes to 1 hour. I was a bit afraid to let them play more on the field. In the end, I decided to take them off after about 55 minutes."

Back to the match, although Chelsea lost to Liverpool, they created a fair game. The Blues had better possession (58%) and launched more shots. However, efficiency is something the London team needs to improve.

Enzo Maresca was optimistic about his players' performance: "I think there are many good things to say about this performance. Overall, everything was quite good. Coming to this stadium and gaining a certain dominance over Liverpool is not easy.

If we could have kept the score at 1-1 for longer, it might have been a different result. My intention was to come here and play the way we train every day. That was very clear.”
