Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee has just issued a comprehensive action plan to tighten food safety management, promote deep processing and expand consumption markets for key agricultural, forestry and fishery products.
This is considered a strategic step to protect consumer health, while improving the competitiveness of local agricultural products in the context of increasingly deep economic integration.
Quang Ngai sets a goal to transition to ecological agriculture, striving for over 97% of production facilities to meet food safety standards and a monitoring sample rate to meet requirements of over 98.5%. In particular, the province expects the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in 2026 to reach the milestone of 680 to 685 million USD.
To realize the set goals, Quang Ngai focuses on reviewing and perfecting the local technical standard system and arranging the management apparatus to ensure transparency and efficiency. One of the breakthrough solutions is to promote the application of information technology, digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) in the process of monitoring and tracing food origin. At the same time, control work will be carried out strictly according to the value chain, from production, harvesting, processing to circulation in the market.
In addition to tightening management, the province also focuses on supporting businesses and people to innovate processing technology, reduce post-harvest losses and develop characteristic OCOP products. In parallel with maintaining the domestic market through the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods", Quang Ngai will promote international trade promotion activities to diversify export channels.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with units such as the Provincial Police, Department of Industry and Trade and Health to conduct post-inspection and strictly handle acts of trade fraud or use of banned substances in production.
The drastic involvement of all levels of government from province to commune, along with the supervision of the community, is expected to create a clean, safe and highly economically valuable agricultural ecosystem for Quang Ngai in the near future.
