According to the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, from February 17, 2026, some new regulations on food labeling will be applied.

According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, these regulations are issued to implement Directive (EU) 2024/1438 dated May 14, 2024 of the Parliament and the European Council for related products with the aim of providing more transparent information about products to consumers.

Some main contents include:

Products must meet the requirements specified in the detailed regulations on commercial quality of jams, soaked foods, jelly, orange jam, plum jam, ground chestnuts according to Regulation No. 991 dated July 22, 2025 of the Polish Ministry of Agriculture. Products must be labeled by clearly stating the fruit content in the product.

The name of packaged products made from two or more types of fruit must include a list of types of fruit used in the production process, in descending order in terms of the quantitative proportion of juice or ground fruit. In case fruit juice and fruit juice are made from three or more types of fruit, this list may be replaced by the term "multi-fruit" or another term with similar meaning or specifying the number of fruits used in the production process.

Name of the country of origin where honey is harvested and in case the honey comes from many countries, the country of origin of each type of honey and the percentage of honey originating from each country.

For fresh fruits, vegetables and bananas sold unpackaged in Poland, it is necessary to present graphics representing the national flag of the country of origin allowing accurate identification of the country of origin of fruits and vegetables.

These new regulations take effect from February 17, 2026, and the regulations on labeling honey, fruit juice and jam take effect from February 14, 2026. Products released to the market before this date and marked according to current regulations may still be on the market until they run out of stock.

Please note that the Polish regulations are issued on the basis of concretizing EU regulations. Therefore, depending on the EU market, the time and implementation details may not be completely the same, but the principles of application are unified. Therefore, businesses exporting agricultural and food products to any EU market need to update new regulations for each specific market.
