Opella achieves global B Corp certification

On June 26, Opella was the first consumer healthcare company globally to achieve B Corp certification, after meeting strict social and environmental standards set by the nonprofit organization B Lab. This certification marks an important milestone in Opella's journey to provide responsible self-care solutions for people and the planet.

To achieve the certification, Opella has implemented a comprehensive transformation process over 4 years, comprehensively reshaping its sustainable development strategy, innovation and corporate governance in all markets worldwide. The company has achieved many outstanding achievements in core areas, including responding to climate change, developing sustainable products, improving public health and enhancing responsibility at the leadership level.

Ms. July Onge Vanvalle, President and CEO of Opella shared: The global B Corp certification is the first step in Opella's sustainable development journey. This achievement comes from the extraordinary efforts of more than 11,000 employees worldwide, the companionship of customers and consumers. This certification affirms our commitment to redefining the field of self-care, that success in business must always go hand in hand with environmental and social responsibility.

Opella has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions in scope 1 and 2 by 64% since 2019; more than 93% of its electricity consumption comes from renewable energy sources. As of 2024, 97% of Opella's paper packaging will come from recycled or certified sustainability.

Opella officially becomes an independent enterprise

On May 8, Opella officially became an independent enterprise, right after Sanofi announced the completion of the transaction of transferring 50% of controlled shares in Opella to CD&R Investment Fund. Sanofi still retains a significant stake of 48.2% and the remaining 1.8% is owned by French public investment bank Bpifrance. With strong support from all sides, Opella will enter the next stage of development with the mission of "Health is within reach, through self-care".
