100 best students entered the final round of "I love my homeland's sea and islands"

An Giang - 100 students from 41 secondary schools have surpassed more than 30,000 others to participate in the final round of "I love my homeland's sea and islands".

On December 13, in Rach Gia ward, An Giang province, the Coast Guard Region 4 Command coordinated with the Department of Education and Training of An Giang province to organize the "I love the sea and islands of my homeland" Contest for secondary school students in coastal commune clusters (wards) of An Giang province.

The contest aims to widely disseminate knowledge about the history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people; the traditions of the People's Army, the Vietnam Coast Guard, and localities in building and defending the Fatherland; legal regulations on Vietnam's sea and islands and international. Raising awareness, building patriotism, love for the homeland's sea and islands and awareness and responsibility of students for the cause of building and protecting territorial sovereignty, maintaining security, order and safety in the seas and islands of the Fatherland.

100 students from 41 secondary schools in the area participated in the direct exam. They have successfully surpassed more than 30,000 others to reach the finals of the competition.

In the live round, students went through 4 rounds: Going out at sea, Overcoming waves, Arresting ports, Marking sovereignty. The first 3 rounds have 5 questions and after each round there will be a rescue part, which are physical games coordinated by officers of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command and teachers. As for the "Setting sovereignty milestones" competition, the students were not rescued.

The content of the question is basic knowledge about the Party's viewpoints, guidelines and policies and laws of the State on seas and islands; international law related to seas and islands; comprehensive knowledge about Vietnam's seas and islands, on the ocean and climate change, preventing IUU fishing; school violence; preventing and combating drugs and drug harm; history, local cultural traditions and society; understanding the forces tasked with protecting the sovereignty of seas and islands.

After the exciting and attractive competitions, the 10 best contestants were awarded with 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes and 4 consolation prizes. Tran Dang Tien, a student of class 6A4, Vo Van Kiet Secondary and High School, won the first prize in the contest.

Speaking at the Competition, Colonel Nguyen Thai Duong - Deputy Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command - Head of the Organizing Committee emphasized: This is not simply a playground for knowledge, but also a deep political activity. Through this, we hope to sow the seeds of love for the sea and islands, helping students - the future owners of the country - better understand the sacred value of each island and seaweed. From there, each student will become a "young propagandist", joining hands with the Vietnam Coast Guard to firmly protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland in the new situation.

On this occasion, the Coast Guard Region 4 Command awarded 60 scholarships (each worth 1 million VND) to 60 students with difficult family circumstances, especially those with difficulties, to study well.
