28% of schools in Ho Chi Minh City meet lighting requirements

HCMC - According to the report on classroom hygiene and hand hygiene monitoring in 2024, 27/95 schools met lighting requirements (accounting for 28%).

Recently, the report of the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) on the monitoring of classroom hygiene and hand hygiene in 2024 at 95 schools with 3,335 classrooms in 21 districts and Thu Duc City (September 23 - November 27) showed that 27/95 monitored schools met the lighting requirements (accounting for 28%).

17/95 monitored schools met noise requirements (18%). Schools located near traffic routes or with gyms near classrooms had noise levels higher than the permitted standard.

27/95 monitored schools have CO concentrations that meet requirements (accounting for 28%), most schools that use air conditioners but do not have exhaust fans have CO concentrations higher than the allowable standard.

Most of the surveyed schools ensure the requirements for hand washing facilities for students: 100% of schools have arranged hand washing areas; 91% of schools meet the ratio of students/hand washing taps; 100% of schools have clean water in hand washing areas; 98% of schools have soap or antiseptic solution in hand washing areas...

HCDC recommends that the Department of Education and Training, District Health Centers and Thu Duc City coordinate to monitor classroom hygiene indicators such as light, noise, and CO2 concentration of schools in the area every year.

Schools need to increase lighting in classrooms that do not meet lighting requirements, increase air exchange in classrooms that do not meet CO2 concentration requirements, review and arrange enough hand washing taps according to regulations, soap and hand washing procedure charts.
