Promoting sustainable consumption is one of the three key strategic pillars of AEON Vietnam to minimize environmental impacts from business activities. From 2020 to November 2025.
Among the solutions implemented in AEON Vietnam's retail system, the environmentally friendly bag rental service is a prominent initiative.
AEON Vietnam deploys priority payment counters (Greenline) at AEON General & Supermarket Centers (TTBHTH & ST), exclusively for customers who do not use plastic bags, thereby encouraging environmentally friendly shopping behavior.
In parallel, AEON Vietnam applies a discount of 1,000 VND for each transaction without using plastic bags, at all payment counters in TTBHTH & ST AEON Vietnam.
The "No plastic bags day" initiative is implemented by AEON Vietnam on the first Monday of each month throughout the TTBHTH & ST system, demonstrating a long-term commitment to reducing disposable plastic waste.
From September 2020 to the end of November 2025, AEON Vietnam recorded nearly 10 million transactions without using plastic bags. In addition, from 2023 to the end of November 2025, it recorded nearly 100,000 bags rentals, of which 2025 recorded a double increase compared to 2024. These figures show a positive change in customers' sustainable consumption behavior.
AEON Vietnam not only focuses on the shopping behavior of current customers but also looks towards the future generation of consumers. In which, sustainable education is identified as one of the 3 strategic pillars besides promoting sustainable consumption, playing a foundational role for sustainable change.
In parallel with education, AEON Vietnam aims that by 2030, 80% of total transactions in the system will autonomously refuse to use disposable plastic bags, contributing to creating a foundation for the green transformation process on a larger scale in the retail industry.
