On July 31, the An Giang Provincial Steering Committee for the exercise announced that it had successfully organized the 2026 Binh An commune disaster prevention and search and rescue exercise with the theme: "Armed forces coordinate with departments, agencies, branches, unions and people of Binh An commune to practice disaster prevention and search and rescue".
The drill is organized in 3 phases including: Organizing preparation for storm response; practicing storm response; ending the drill. In the mechanism operation part, local Party committees and authorities organized conferences to assess the situation, forecast storm developments, issue leadership and direction decisions, deploy plans to respond to natural disasters and search and rescue; mobilize forces, vehicles, and materials according to the motto "3 readiness", "4 on-site", ensuring unity, tightness and closeness to actual conditions.
Entering the live-fire phase, the forces practiced handling situations of strong storms making landfall combined with heavy rain and high tides causing deep flooding in the area. The Commune Civil Defense Command quickly deployed storm development announcements, calling on ships and boats to anchor in safe places; mobilized military forces, police, militia and mass organizations to coordinate with the people to reinforce houses, reinforce works, and relocate assets to safe places.
When the natural disaster situation becomes complicated, the forces continue to organize the evacuation of people from dangerous areas, deploy rescue and relief for trapped cases, ensure security and order, divert traffic in deeply flooded areas, and at the same time mobilize forces to overcome the consequences after the natural disaster, clear fallen green trees, sanitize the environment, and support people to soon stabilize their lives. The drill process took place urgently, in the correct order, in close coordination, ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles.
Speaking to draw experience, Colonel Nguyen Thanh An - Deputy Commander of An Giang Provincial Military Command - highly appreciated the thorough preparation of the Exercise Steering Committee, the drastic leadership and direction of the Party Committee and local authorities, and the sense of responsibility of the participating forces.
The comrade affirmed that the drill has fully completed the content and program, achieved the set goals and requirements; operated the mechanism in accordance with principles, practical drills close to reality, and promoted good coordination and coordination between forces in handling natural disaster prevention and control and search and rescue situations. At the same time, he requested localities to continue to organize experience learning, supplement and complete civil defense plans and plans; strictly maintain readiness, improve command and operation capacity and response capacity to natural disaster and incident situations, contributing to protecting the safety of life and property of the State and people.
At the end of the exercise, the Provincial Exercise Steering Committee assessed that Binh An commune successfully completed the set goals and requirements, ensuring absolute safety for people, weapons, equipment and vehicles.
On this occasion, the Exercise Steering Committee presented gifts to collectives and units participating in the exercise with outstanding achievements, acknowledging the spirit of responsibility, close coordination and efforts in the process of preparing and organizing the exercise.
