On June 14, according to information from Vinh Long Provincial Police, the Criminal Police Department for Social Order arrested Nguyen Van Kiet, a wanted subject for intentionally causing injury, after many years of fleeing the locality.
According to the case file, on November 11, 2016, in Long Thanh hamlet, Luc Si Thanh commune, Tra On district (now Luc Si Thanh commune, Vinh Long province), Nguyen Van Kiet had a conflict with Mr. T.N. B. H while attending a funeral and was hit in the head.
Annoyed, Kiet went home to get a metal knife and waited. When Mr. H. returned from the funeral, Kiet used the knife to slash many times, causing injuries with a body injury rate of 40%, and then quickly fled the locality.
After the incident occurred, the Investigation Police Agency of Tra On District Police initiated a criminal case, prosecuted the defendant and issued an arrest warrant for Nguyen Van Kiet. However, the subject continuously changed his residence to avoid detection by functional agencies.
Through verification and synchronous application of professional measures, on June 7, the Department of Criminal Police for Social Order discovered and arrested Nguyen Van Kiet when the subject was hiding in Ho Chi Minh City.
Currently, the case is being consolidated in file and handled according to the provisions of law.
