According to the plan, Can Tho City will organize the signing of international agreements on sending workers to work temporarily in Korea with Korean localities that need cooperation with Can Tho City. Participants are workers with permanent residence in Can Tho City, meeting the conditions according to regulations; in which priority is given to ethnic minorities, poor households, near-poor households, relatives of people with meritorious services to the revolution and households whose agricultural land is recovered.
Based on the labor demand of the Korean side, the city will organize labor recruitment in 2026, including newly recruited workers and workers who have participated in the program and were requested by the Korean side to return to work. The expected recruitment period is from March to May 2026.
In parallel with sending workers to work abroad, the training of high-quality human resources in Can Tho City continues to be promoted.
In October 2025, Can Tho City People's Committee coordinated with the Japan Professional Skills Intermediate School (JPC) to inaugurate and open the first academic year. This is the first unit in the Mekong Delta to be invested in under a vocational training model directly linked to the recruitment of Japanese businesses. Trainees are trained according to a lien thong program between study and practice, learning specialized Japanese, training working skills and physical strength according to international standards; then they are interned and committed to work in Japan with an income of 30 - 35 million VND/month, which can be extended from 2.5 to 5 years.
According to the People's Committee of Can Tho City, in 2025, Can Tho City introduced jobs to 115,084 workers, including 2,377 workers going to work abroad; provided labor, employment, and vocational training policy advice to 242,139 people; organized many job transaction activities, attracting 28,104 workers and 1,327 employers to participate.
