On March 27, information from Nghe An Provincial Police said that Vinh Hung Ward Police in coordination with the Mobile Police Department caught 3 subjects red-handed for extortion.
Previously, at about 11:10 pm on March 22, on Lenin street (block 8, Vinh Hung ward), functional forces discovered and arrested subjects including: Vo Manh Anh (born 2003, residing in Huong Xuan commune, Ha Tinh province), Cao Trung Nam (born 2004, residing in Quynh Luu commune) and Thai Doan Hoang (born 2006, residing in Vinh Loc ward, Nghe An province).
According to the police agency, taking advantage of the fact that the Nghe An Provincial Police deployed "Team 373" armed patrols and rapid responses to ensure security and order, the group of subjects impersonated this force to commit crimes.
Specifically, subjects in plain clothes blocked traffic participants' vehicles at night, threatened and demanded money to be paid on the grounds of "infringing penalties". When they discovered Mr. N.D. T. (born 2007) driving an electric motorbike carrying Ms. N.H. T. N. (born 2008, also residing in Vinh Phu ward), this group forced them to stop the vehicle and demanded a transfer of 500,000 VND for not wearing a helmet.
While the subjects were receiving money, Vinh Hung Ward Police coordinated with the Mobile Police Department to promptly detect, catch them red-handed, and prevent criminal acts.
Currently, the case is being further consolidated by Vinh Hung Ward Police to handle according to the provisions of law.
