On June 16, Lao Cai Provincial Police said that Yen Binh Commune Police continuously discovered and clarified 2 drug cases, prosecuting 4 defendants for the act of organizing the illegal use of narcotics.
According to the police agency, implementing the plan to build communes and wards without drugs in the province, the Yen Binh Commune Police force has strengthened the review and management of the area and suspected subjects.

At about 6 pm on June 5, Yen Binh Commune Police coordinated with reinforced task forces of the Provincial Police to invite Ngo Huu Thang (born 1997, residing in hamlet 12, Yen Binh commune) to work because he was suspected of illegally using drugs.

At the police station, Thang confessed to buying Ketamine from a subject in Au Lau ward and using it with Pham Anh Tuan (born 1997, residing in the same locality).
Expanding the verification, on June 6, the Commune Police summoned Pham Anh Tuan. The subject admitted that he and Thang organized the illegal use of drugs on the taxi he was driving. This was identified as a trick to conceal the violation and avoid detection by functional forces.
Based on investigation documents, on June 9, the Investigation Police Agency of Lao Cai Provincial Police initiated a criminal case, prosecuted defendants and temporarily detained Pham Anh Tuan and Ngo Huu Thang for the crime of "Organizing the illegal use of narcotics".
Following that, on June 10, during the inspection and rapid drug testing of drivers of Yen Bai Youth Concrete Joint Stock Company operating in Yen Binh commune, functional forces discovered Pham Ngoc Son (born 1994, residing in Tuyen Quang province) and Nguyen Anh Hong (born 1988, residing in Phu Tho province) positive for drugs.

Working with the police agency, the two subjects confessed that they had jointly organized the illegal use of drugs in Yen Binh commune in April 2026. On June 12, the Investigation Police Agency of Lao Cai Provincial Police initiated a criminal case, prosecuted the defendants and temporarily detained both to investigate the act of "Organizing the illegal use of drugs".
Currently, the cases are being further investigated and expanded for handling by Lao Cai Provincial Police in accordance with legal regulations.
