On April 27, Tang Loong Commune Police (Lao Cai province) said that they had issued a decision to impose an administrative fine of 7.5 million VND on an individual for posting an article with untrue content, defaming, and insulting the honor of others.
Previously, through grasping the situation in cyberspace combined with people's reflections, the Police force discovered that the Facebook account "N.V" posted content showing signs of falsehood, affecting the reputation and honor of other individuals.
The content of the article quickly attracted attention, posing a risk of spreading negative information in the community.
Conducting verification, functional agencies identified the user of the Facebook account "N.V" as Ms. P.T. M (born in 1990, residing in Phu Lam village, Tang Loong commune).
Working with the police agency, Ms. P.T. M admitted all violations and proactively removed the content posted on social networks.
Based on the provisions of point a, clause 1, Article 101 of Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP (amended and supplemented in 2022), Tang Loong Commune Police issued a decision to sanction administrative violations against Ms. P.T. M for the act of providing and sharing false information, distorting, slandering, and insulting the prestige of organizations, honor and dignity of individuals.
The timely detection, verification and handling of the case clearly demonstrates the role and responsibility of Tang Loong Commune Police in managing and ensuring security and order in cyberspace; and at the same time contributes to deterring and preventing violations of the law related to the use of social networks.
Through the incident, the Police force recommends that people be cautious when participating in social networks, not to post or share unverified information, false information, distortions, slander or insults to the honor and dignity of others.
Each individual needs to raise their sense of responsibility, comply with legal regulations when using cyberspace, and avoid unfortunate legal consequences that may occur.
