On the morning of March 14, at Nai Nam communal house (Da Nang City), the Liaison Committee of Truong Sa soldiers of Da Nang City in the period 1984-1988 organized a ceremony to offer incense to commemorate and pay tribute to 64 martyrs who sacrificed in the Gac Ma battle in 1988.
Nai Nam communal house is the place to place a stele commemorating heroic martyrs who sacrificed through the periods of Hoa Cuong ward, Da Nang city. In the list of martyrs whose names are engraved here, there are 10 martyrs who are local children who sacrificed in the Gac Ma battle.
At the ceremony, members of the Liaison Committee of Truong Sa soldiers of Da Nang City in the period 1984-1988, relatives of 10 martyrs' families and local people performed the ceremony of lighting candles and offering incense. This is an activity that the Liaison Committee maintains annually every March.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tan - Head of the Liaison Committee of Truong Sa soldiers of Da Nang City in the period 1984-1988 - said that every year until March 14, veterans who used to work in Truong Sa gather at Nai Nam communal house to share with relatives of martyrs' families. According to Mr. Tan, although veterans are getting older every year, the concern of the people and especially young people for the Gac Ma event and the sea and island issue is increasing.
The sea and islands are an inseparable part of our Fatherland. The sacrifice of the soldiers that day brought happiness, contributing a small part to the peace of the country today. That is the purpose to continue to ignite the fire for the young generation," Mr. Tan affirmed.

In addition, this activity also aims to help local people better understand the activities of the Liaison Committee over the years. The organization of incense offering and gratitude ceremonies also contributes to reducing the pain of families with loved ones who fell in the 1988 battle.
Mr. Tan added: "The sacrifice of the soldiers will last forever like the stele engraved with the names of 10 martyrs in the locality or 64 martyrs nationwide. With the duty as head of the committee, I have the responsibility to carry out this work for the comrades who sacrificed".
Regarding connection work, Mr. Nguyen Van Tan informed that currently the Liaison Committee not only operates during holidays but also maintains regular contact through social networks. This form helps connect families of martyrs who sacrificed at Gac Ma across the country with comrades who used to work together for a time.
Currently, each province has its own liaison committee. Although there are no conditions to visit each house directly, the liaison committees still regularly grasp information through communication channels to promptly encourage and support relatives and comrades when necessary.
