On August 31, Da Nang City People's Committee requested localities and units to strengthen forest fire prevention and fighting after a number of fires occurred in the area during prolonged hot weather.
Notably, commune-level People's Committees must strictly prohibit all acts of using fire in production and related activities on hot, dry days with strong southwest winds.
Strictly controlled activities include burning vegetation after planting forests, burning fields, honey mining, burning votive paper at cemeteries and using fire in forest tourist areas.
According to the City People's Committee, in the past time, the situation of people using fire in and near forests that is not safe has caused fire spread, causing damage to resources and property.
The city requests to arrange forces to be on duty in areas at high fire risk, control forest entrances and exits to promptly detect, prevent and handle violations.
When forest fires occur related to the use of fire, functional agencies must clarify the responsibilities of relevant organizations and individuals.
Chairmen of People's Committees of communes, wards, special zones, leaders of departments, branches, units and forest owners must be responsible to the Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee if there is a lack of inspection and supervision, leading to the illegal use of fire leading to forest fires.
