Dong Thap - On September 22, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province signed and issued an official dispatch on strengthening the work of ensuring network information security.

According to the document, in recent times, the situation of cybersecurity has become increasingly complicated due to the increase in cybercrime, geopolitical tensions and the rapid development of new technologies such as artificial intelligence. This has created many threats such as: blackmail malware attacks, online scams, service denial attacks, theft and online sale of data and public service accounts. Hacking groups (especially APT groups) thoroughly exploit human factors (lack of awareness, knowledge of network information security) and weaknesses in the information system to carry out the attack intention.

In the province, there are still some risks of causing network information insecurity such as: information systems designed incorrectly; information technology software that does not meet security requirements; computers that do not use malware prevention and control software; users installing unlocking software, lacking vigilance against malicious files; agencies that have not issued or users that have not complied with internal regulations on ensuring network information security.

To strengthen the work of ensuring network information security, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province requested departments, branches, sectors, public service units, state-owned enterprises under the province and commune-level People's Committees in the area to continue to strictly implement Official Dispatch No. 502/UBND-TCDNC dated August 8, 2025 of the Provincial People's Committee on compliance with legal regulations in ensuring the safety of information systems at each level. Research and promulgate internal regulations on network information security specifically and clearly, in accordance with legal regulations and actual situations; at the same time, disseminate to all cadres, civil servants and public employees to grasp and comply with.

It is necessary to raise awareness of network information security for cadres, civil servants and public employees; not to download, store, or disseminate files of unknown origin from cyberspace; use strong passwords to protect public service accounts; increase recruitment and training of qualified human resources with knowledge of information technology.

In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to budgeting and investing in copyrighted applications, information technology software and malware prevention and control software to ensure network information security; not using unlocking software. In case the unit builds its own software and applications, it must fully comply with the technical requirements on network information security according to regulations.
