With the theme "Hanoi - sharing a determination to build communes and wards without drugs", on the morning of June 5, the Steering Committee for Drug Prevention and Control of Hanoi City launched the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control in 2026, calling for the participation of the entire political system and the whole society in the prevention and fight against drug crime.

Speaking at the opening, Colonel Nguyen Duc Long - Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police, Standing Deputy Head of the City Steering Committee for Drug Prevention and Control - said that the situation of crime and drug evils is still complicated with increasingly sophisticated methods and tricks, transnational, inter-line, and inter-provincial.
According to Colonel Nguyen Duc Long, the launch of the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control shows the strong political determination of the city in preventing, fighting and gradually pushing back drug evils out of social life.

The Steering Committee for Drug Prevention and Control of Hanoi City said that this year's theme aims to raise the awareness of the whole society about the dangers of drugs; promote the role of the entire political system and people in preventing, fighting, and denouncing crimes, building a safe and healthy living environment.
Mr. Dinh Hong Phong - Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Health, Deputy Head of the City Steering Committee for Drug Prevention and Control - said that in the past time, Hanoi has implemented many propaganda activities, including an visual communication campaign on drug prevention and control throughout the area and an online contest to learn about the Law on Drug Prevention and Control and guiding documents for implementation.
At the conference, Nguyen Thai Dieu Thao - a student at the National Economics University - representing union members and youth of the Capital, expressed her determination to say no to drugs, actively propagate, raise community awareness and promote the pioneering role in drug prevention and control.

Representatives of businesses participating in supporting vocational training and using labor after drug detoxification also committed to accompanying the city in community reintegration, expanding job opportunities, contributing to reducing the risk of relapse and ensuring social security.
Speaking to direct at the conference, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Do Anh Tuan requested Party committees, authorities, departments, branches and localities to identify drug prevention and control as a key and regular task, associated with socio-economic development and ensuring social security in the area.
The city will continue to promote propaganda and mobilize officials and people to respond to the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control; promote the role of each citizen in preventing, detecting, and denouncing drug crimes.
In addition, Hanoi City Police continue to play a core role in fighting and suppressing crime; managing addicts, illegal drug users and people after detoxification; strengthening inspection and handling of violations at conditional business establishments regarding security and order.
Prosecuting agencies are also requested to promote prosecution and trial of drug cases to serve propaganda and deterrence; strengthen coordination with localities at home and abroad to improve the effectiveness of drug prevention and control.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, the forces organized a parade to respond to the 2026 Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control, spreading the message of building a safe, civilized, and drug-free Capital.
