Green transformation is no longer a distant story
In the context of Vietnam entering a new stage of development, the requirement to build a green, sustainable growth model based on science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and green transformation is becoming more urgent than ever. If previously, green transformation was mainly viewed from an environmental perspective, now it has become a direct issue of growth, competitiveness, quality of life and the future development of the country.
Green Transformation Day 2026, with the theme "Green Transformation - Driving Force for Vietnam's New Growth Model", held at Cau Giay Park, Hanoi, has shown a new approach: green transformation is not only discussed in the hall, not just limited to policy concepts, but must be concretized by experience, by consumption choices, by means of transportation, by changes in each daily behavior of people.
The noteworthy point of the program is that it has created an open, close space where management agencies, businesses, experts, scientists and people can meet, exchange, experience and share. People not only hear about green transformation, but also see electric vehicles, test drive, get policy advice, and participate in the "gasoline exchange for electricity" program. This intuition makes the concept of green transformation easier to understand, easier to access and more persuasive.
Policy-to-action connection forum
Speaking at the program, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Le Cong Thanh assessed that Green Transformation Day 2026 is not only a meaningful communication activity, but also a practical forum for management agencies, the business community, experts, and scientists to exchange and share initiatives, remove obstacles, and spread the spirit of action for a green, rapid and sustainable Vietnam.
The great meaning of the program lies in the fact that it has connected macroeconomic issues with specific actions. From the requirement to build new growth models, promote green economy, circular economy, energy transition, to the very ordinary story of whether a citizen should switch from a gasoline car to an electric car, all are placed in the same thinking thread: rapid development but must be sustainable, modern but must be environmentally friendly.
Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh emphasized that green transformation needs to be placed in the central driving force of the new growth model; at the same time, resources must be unlocked through green credit, green bonds, sustainable finance, carbon markets and environmental economic tools. These are not simple issues, because green transformation cannot be based solely on goodwill or slogans. If you want businesses to transform technology, want people to change means, want the economy to reduce emissions, you must have clear policies, capital sources, criteria and appropriate incentive mechanisms.
With the position of a press agency with a tradition of attachment to workers, businesses and sustainable development issues, Lao Dong Newspaper has chosen a practical approach: bringing green transformation closer to people with specific activities, easy to participate in, and easy to feel. Instead of just stating the slogan "living green", the program creates conditions for people to experience green vehicles. Instead of just talking about emission reduction, the program sets out a very specific choice: switching from old gasoline cars to electric cars. Instead of just discussing policies within the scope of experts, the event opens up space for people, businesses and management agencies to be present together.
From electric vehicle experience to behavior change
One of the highlights of Green Transformation Day 2026 is the electric vehicle experience area and the "gasoline exchange for electricity" program. This is not only a product display activity, but also a very lively way of communicating about green transformation. Because for many people, hearing that electric vehicles are more economical, cleaner, and more friendly may not be enough. They need to see, try, ask, be consulted and be compared with their long-standing habits of using gasoline vehicles.
The story of Mr. Pham Quoc Vinh, 73 years old, in Cau Giay ward, Hanoi is a suggestive detail. His family is using a Dream gasoline motorbike and intends to change cars. After test driving an electric car at a program of Lao Dong Newspaper, he decided to order an electric car to replace an old car. Such a decision may be small at the personal level, but of great significance at the social level. Because green transformation not only starts from large factories, large energy projects, but also starts from very ordinary choices of each family.
Representative of Thu Anh VinFast also said that the program has a great spread, attracting many people to participate in the "gasoline to electricity exchange" activity; when the program ended, there were still people coming to learn about information. This shows that the need for green transformation in society exists, the issue is that there needs to be more space for consulting, experience and appropriate support mechanisms to make that need become a practical action.
Green transformation must start from each subject
At the event, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang - Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion, Ministry of Industry and Trade - emphasized that green transformation is no longer a separate story of the environment, but has become a direct requirement for economic development, production, consumption and the competitiveness of the economy. This assessment shows that green transformation must be seen as a comprehensive process, in which the State, businesses and people all have their share of the work.
The State creates institutions, standards, policies and a favorable environment. Businesses innovate technology, use energy efficiently, develop environmentally friendly products and services. People change consumption habits, choose greener vehicles, save more energy, and reduce plastic waste more. When these three subjects move together, green transformation has the opportunity to become a sustainable trend.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang also highly appreciated the way the event is organized at Cau Giay Park, associated with displaying and experiencing electric vehicles and activities to encourage the transition to green transportation. This is an intuitive and close-to-people approach, helping people to see, experience and directly exchange about the changes taking place in life.
Dr. Nguyen Xuan Quang - Institute of Energy Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology - said that Green Transition Day 2026 is not only a communication event but also creates a positive social effect, contributing to raising people's awareness of sustainable development and using clean energy. He hopes that the event will be held annually with an expanded scale, so that people have more motivation to change their consumption habits and choose environmentally friendly vehicles.
