On May 8, the Department of Home Affairs of Hai Phong city organized the opening of the thematic exhibition "Hai Phong in the flow of history through archival documents" to celebrate the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2026), the 71st anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 – May 13, 2026) and respond to the Red Flamboyant Flower Festival in 2026.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, a representative of the Organizing Committee emphasized: Preserving and promoting the value of archival documents not only contributes to preserving historical heritage but also helps the younger generation better understand the traditions and identity of the locality.

The event introduces typical documents, images and archival materials, recreating the journey of formation and development of Hai Phong through many historical periods. The exhibition space is built according to three main themes including: "Hai Phong - Port City in the historical flow", "Hai Duong - Land of the East rich in tradition" and "Hai Phong - New role, new position". Through documents, images and artifacts, the exhibition vividly depicts the rich history, cultural traditions, revolution and outstanding achievements of the city in the period of renovation, integration and development.
With a combination of indoor and outdoor display forms, the exhibition uses many scanned and expanded documents along with maps, images, press documents and 3D films, bringing viewers an intuitive, vivid and attractive experience.
In addition to archival documents, the exhibition also introduces many folk art products and experiential activities. Visitors can directly learn about the process of wood carving, enjoy traditional handicrafts and interact with artisans.
The exhibition is an opportunity to review the glorious historical journey of the Port city, and at the same time introduce to a large number of officials, people, youth union members and students valuable images, documents, and archival materials reflecting the formation, construction and development of Hai Phong through historical periods.
The exhibition lasts until May 14 at the Hai Phong City Historical Archives Center (No. 51 Luong Khanh Thien, Gia Vien ward, Hai Phong city).
