On June 26, Binh An Commune Police said that the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Provincial Police had issued a decision to prosecute Nguyen Van Tuan (born in 1983, residing in An Bien commune, An Giang province) to investigate the act of property theft.
Previously, at about 4 pm on April 5, 2026, while participating in unloading dried squid at Tac Cau Fishing Port, Nguyen Van Tuan discovered a dry squid tree that was not sealed, so he had the intention to steal it.
Taking advantage of the moment when everyone was not paying attention, Tuan opened the dried squid stick, took the squid and hid it inside his pants. After that, the owner of the dried squid discovered that the squid stick was opened, suspecting it was stolen, so he reported it to the Binh An Commune Police.
Through working, Tuan admitted the act of theft and voluntarily handed over the dried squid he had taken. The results determined that the dried squid weighed 3.4kg, worth more than 3 million VND.
Currently, the Provincial Police Investigation Agency continues to investigate and clarify and handle according to legal regulations.
