On the afternoon of December 7, Colonel Phan Van Thi - Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Da Nang City Border Guard said that the 2nd Border Guard Squadron had just organized forces and vehicles to promptly support to towing the cargo ship Tuan Kiet 68 (HP 6219) with broken engine and drifting anchor in Da Nang Bay.

Previously, at 12:15 on December 7, the City Border Guard's combat command received a notice that the ship Tuan Kiet 68 - with a capacity of 1,500 tons, captained by Mr. Tran Van Vu, while anchored in Da Nang Bay to repair machinery had drifted outside the bay gate.
At the time of reporting, the ship drifted to a location about 2.5 nautical miles northeast of Tien Sa port, with only 1 crew member on board. The captain requested emergency support to avoid the risk of colliding with underground rocks causing accidents.

Upon receiving the news, at 12:55 p.m. the same day, the City Border Guard Command mobilized the BP 08-11-01/06 vehicle along with 6 officers and soldiers of the Border Guard Squadron 2, captained by Major Nguyen Duc Tuong, to quickly approach and assist in towing the Tuan Kiet 68 ship back to the safe anchorage area in Da Nang Bay. The ship is expected to be brought to a stable position at 2:45 p.m.
By 3:00 p.m., the rescue work was completed, ensuring the safety of people and vehicles.
