According to the Khanh Hoa Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, on May 25, widespread hot weather continued to occur in the province. In which, the mountainous area and the south of the province have places where intense hot weather occurred, the highest temperature may exceed 38 degrees Celsius.
The 8 am bulletin on May 25th said that on May 24th, many places in the province recorded hot weather, locally experiencing intense heat. The highest temperature in Khanh Trung reached 40.1 degrees Celsius, Ma Noi 38.4 degrees Celsius, Phuoc Thai 38.6 degrees Celsius. The lowest relative humidity is commonly from 35-45%.
The cause was determined to be due to the influence of the southern edge of the low pressure trough with an axis of about 24-27 degrees North latitude connected to the developed hot low pressure area to the west.
On May 25, the Khanh Hoa area continued to experience widespread hot weather. The highest temperature is commonly from 35-37 degrees C, in some places above 38 degrees C. The relative lowest humidity fluctuates from 40-50%. The temperature above 35 degrees C lasts from 10-16 hours each day.
The meteorological agency believes that hot weather is likely to last until May 27th, then gradually decrease.
Due to the impact of prolonged hot weather combined with low air humidity, the risk of fires and explosions in residential areas increases due to high electricity demand. At the same time, the risk of forest fires in the province is also high.
In addition, hot weather can cause dehydration, exhaustion, and even heat stroke if people are exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
Khanh Hoa Provincial Hydrometeorological Station also noted that the forecast temperature in the bulletins and the actual perceived outdoor temperature may differ from 2-4 degrees Celsius, or even higher depending on the condition of the buffer surface such as concrete and asphalt roads.
