On July 31, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (Ministry of Public Security) in coordination with Vietnam Television launched the communication campaign "AI News?" and launched the news bulletin "Real - Fake - Verified" to contribute to improving information verification skills and preventing fake news.
Speaking at the opening, Lieutenant General Le Xuan Minh, Director of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (Ministry of Public Security) said that artificial intelligence (AI) is creating strong changes in the way humans create, access and spread information.
Besides the opportunities to promote socio-economic development, AI also makes the creation of fake images, videos, voices and content faster and more sophisticated, making the boundary between real and fake increasingly fragile.
In that context, protecting security in cyberspace is not only protecting information systems, data or digital infrastructure; but more importantly, protecting cognitive security, human security and protecting the belief in social stability.
False information, if widely spread, may not only damage prestige, affect individuals, businesses and agencies, organizations, but also cause confusion in society, affect security and order and the sustainable development of the whole country.
Lieutenant General Le Xuan Minh emphasized that technology, no matter how modern, cannot completely replace human awareness. Therefore, the most fundamental solution is to build a verification reflex in the community, so that every citizen when accessing information has the habit of checking information sources, comparing data, considering before trusting and sharing, and acting responsibly. That is an essential citizen capacity in the digital age.
From that awareness, under the direction of the Ministry of Public Security, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, the Digital Trust Alliance, and the National Cyber Security Association officially launched the "AI News?" campaign with the message "Check before - News after".
This is not a single communication campaign, but a call for the joint efforts of the whole society in forming a transparent, safe and reliable information environment," Lieutenant General Le Xuan Minh said.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, General Director of Vietnam Television, in the AI era, besides digital capacity, each citizen needs to form an essential citizen skill, which is the reflex to verify information before trusting or sharing.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam emphasized that verification is not only aimed at detecting and refuting false information but also contributes to protecting positive values. Verification is not only to expose the bad, but also to protect the good.
At the program, the News Department of Vietnam Television in coordination with the network security force and high-tech crime prevention officially launched the news bulletin "Real-Fake, Verified", broadcast at 7:55 PM daily on VTV.
Introducing the news bulletin, General Director of Vietnam Television Nguyen Thanh Lam said that the program will provide content to verify and analyze cases of public concern, identify tricks to create and spread fake news, and guide people on information verification skills in an intuitive, concise and easy-to-reach form.
The newsletter will also regularly update prominent cases in cyberspace, warn about new fraud trends and equip knowledge and tools to help people proactively protect themselves from fake content created by AI and new technologies.
Within the framework of the event, a seminar with the theme "Building verification reflection in the AI era" took place with the participation of representatives of management agencies, press agencies, technology businesses, digital platforms, experts and content creators.
