The United Nations General Assembly chose October 11 every year as the International Day of the Girl Child to raise awareness of gender equality, promote the community to implement policies to support the enhancement of the role and status of girls in particular and women in general, especially girls in families where only one child is a girl. This year's International Day of the Girl Child has the theme "Vision for the future of girls". This is an important message to raise awareness and responsibility of Party committees, authorities, departments, branches, organizations and people of the city in promoting the role and enhancing the status of women and girls.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Thu Hang, Manager of the Department of Population and Family Planning of Hai Phong City, in 2022, the City People's Council issued Resolution No. 15/NQ-HDND stipulating a number of incentive and support policies for collectives and individuals who perform well in population work in the city. In particular, the policy encourages and supports 5 million VND at a time for couples of childbearing age who have 2 daughters, recognized as typical cultural families at the city level. This is one of the policies demonstrating the city's concern for population work; promptly motivating and encouraging couples to implement population policies well, contributing to promoting gender equality.
At the program, the Population and Family Planning Branch awarded financial support to 8 families in the districts of Le Chan, Kien An, An Lao, Tien Lang, and Thuy Nguyen who are eligible to benefit from the "Policy to encourage and support the control of gender imbalance at birth", each family received 5 million VND.
