On the morning of June 1st, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the People's Committee of Nghe An province and relevant agencies to organize a press conference to provide information about the series of communication events in response to World Environment Day, World Oceans Day, Action Month for the Environment and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2026; Launching the emulation movement "All people join hands to protect the environment, for a green - clean - beautiful Vietnam".
The series of events is organized in the context of climate change, environmental pollution, and depletion of natural resources becoming major challenges globally. Raising awareness, promoting community responsibility, promoting green lifestyles and practical actions for the environment are considered urgent requirements.
In 2026, World Environment Day has the theme "Global Partnership for Climate Action". World Oceans Day has the theme "Silient Marine Conservation for the Green Planet". Meanwhile, Vietnam Sea and Islands Week aims at the message "Green Ocean, Sustainable Economy: Conservation for Development".
Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Dang Ngoc Diep said that the movement aims to call for the synchronous participation of localities, socio-political organizations, businesses, schools and people in practical activities such as reducing plastic waste, sorting waste at source, planting trees, protecting water sources, biodiversity conservation and preserving the living environment.
The series of events is not only an annual response activity, but also a strong call for responsibility and action for the future of the country. Each green action today will contribute to creating a greener, cleaner and more sustainable Vietnam for future generations," Deputy Minister Dang Ngoc Diep said.
According to the Organizing Committee, this year's series of events includes many large-scale activities, taking place from June 4-6 in Cua Lo ward, Nghe An province. Among them, the Green Sea Economy Exhibition - Sustainable Agriculture and Environment is organized from June 4-6 at Binh Minh Square, Cua Lo ward.
On June 5, the National Forum on Environment and Climate with the theme "From policy to action" took place from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Vinpearl Cua Hoi. On the same day, the National Conference "Perfecting institutions and policies to promote sustainable marine economic development" was held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The highlight of the series of activities is the art program "Vietnam Sea - Green Space Journey", taking place from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM on June 5th at Binh Minh Square. The program has the participation of many famous artists, broadcast live on Vietnam Television, Agriculture and Environment Newspaper and local television stations.
In addition, the national launching ceremony to respond to World Environment Day, World Oceans Day, Action Month for the Environment and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2026 takes place from 6:00 AM to 8:30 AM on June 6th at Binh Minh Square, Cua Lo ward.
On this occasion, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front launched the emulation movement "All people join hands to protect the environment, for a green - clean - beautiful Vietnam" nationwide.
