Rescuing 12 cases of Hai Phong citizens kidnapped and sold to Cambodia
According to information from the Department of Foreign Affairs of Hai Phong City, from 2022 to 2024, the Department of Foreign Affairs will coordinate with the Vietnam Representative Agency in Cambodia and the People's Committees of districts in the city to participate in resolving and supporting the repatriation of 18 Hai Phong citizens who were rescued from fraud and labor exploitation rings in Cambodia.
In the first 2 months of 2025 alone, the number of cases of citizens kidnapped, defrauded and rescued to Cambodia has increased to 12 (equal to 85% in the previous period).
According to the assessment of the Vietnam Representative Office in Cambodia, the flow of labor to Cambodia to work through illegal routes and become victims is too large, the rescue work is difficult due to many subjective and objective reasons.
