Heavy rain causes flooding in many places in Lam Dong, evacuating hundreds of households
On December 4, Mr. Ho Huu Hieu, Head of the Economic - Infrastructure - Urban Department of Hiep Thanh Town (Lam Dong) said that due to prolonged heavy rain, water from upstream caused National Highway 20 through Dinh An, K'Ren, and K'Long villages to be heavily flooded. Low-lying residential areas in these villages are isolated due to water rising from 1.5 to 2.5 m.
According to Mr. Hieu, from 0:00 to 4:00 a.m. on December 4, floods and rains inundated more than 400 hectares of land and crops, over 70 state-owned houses were flooded 1.5 - 2.5 m deep, 2 houses were damaged; floods and landslides caused 3 bridges for people. The authorities promptly evacuated 16 people, including many elderly people, sick people and children, from the danger zone, so there were no casualties.

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health warns EV71 causing hand, foot and mouth disease to reappear
Since the beginning of the year, the total accumulated cases have reached 32,637 cases, 64% higher than in 2024. Although no deaths were recorded, the city has received 65 cases with a severity of grade 2b or higher. Notably, from week 42, the average number of severe cases is 3 cases per week, higher than the beginning of the year.
Hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City are also receiving 640 transfers from other provinces and cities, including 8 severe cases, accounting for 70% of the total number of severe cases being treated in the city.

The appearance of the EV71 factor is the main cause of concern. In November 2025, Children's Hospital 1 tested 18 severe cases of TCM and detected 10 cases positive for EV71 (accounting for 56%).
The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) also confirmed that EV71 had only begun to be detected since the beginning of November after monitoring more than 400 samples since the beginning of the year. This shows that the appearance of EV71 is closely related to the time when the number of cases and severe cases increased simultaneously.
