On May 14, the Nghe An Market Management Department (QLTT) said that the authorities had just discovered and temporarily detained 3 tons of smuggled sand and 600kg of fresh bamboo shoots of unknown origin in Vinh City.
Previously, on May 13, Market Management Team No. 11 (Nghe An Market Management Department) coordinated with the Economic Police Department (Nghe An Police) to inspect a truck with license plate 74C-xxx driven by Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan (residing in Phu Xuan District, Hue City). At the time of inspection, the vehicle was unloading goods in Cua Tien urban area (Vinh Tan ward, Vinh city).

The authorities discovered that the vehicle was carrying 3 tons of Thai golden sand, branded BURIRAM SUAR (50kg/bag), with a total value of about 45 million VND. All of the goods do not have Vietnamese sub-labeles, do not have invoices or documents proving legal origin and are identified as smuggled goods.
On the same day, Market Management Team No. 3 conducted a surprise inspection of the fresh bamboo shoots processing and trading facility owned by Mr. Le Duc S. (residing in Quang Trung Ward, Vinh City). Through inspection, 600kg of fresh bamboo shoots of unknown origin were discovered, without valid invoices and documents.
Market Management Team No. 3 fined the facility over 12 million VND and destroyed all violating goods according to regulations.
Currently, the authorities are continuing to investigate and clarify to strictly handle it according to the law.
