In response to the information that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just issued an urgent document requesting relevant units to strengthen the review, ensure the safety of urban technical infrastructure systems, and prevent incidents during the rainy and flood season in Ho Chi Minh City, a representative of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) said that EVNHCMC has issued instructions to proactively respond to natural disasters and prevent electricity incidents.
According to EVNHCMC, before the start of the storm season, EVNHCMC sent an official dispatch to its affiliated units, requesting proactive response to complex and unpredictable natural disasters, possible heavy rain, floods, landslides and inundation, ensuring safety of life and limiting property damage to people. Accordingly, all units must comply with the provisions of law and the Vietnam Electricity Group on natural disaster prevention and search and rescue.
EVNHCMC has requested units to seriously implement the four-in-place motto including on-site command, on-site forces, vehicles, on-site materials, and on-site logistics.
EVNHCMC assigned all units to urgently complete the Command Committee and review and revise the operating regulations, assign tasks to the Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue. At the same time, review and complete the coordination minutes between neighboring power units to promptly support the response and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.
EVNHCMC also requires 5 newly established regional power companies (including Binh Duong, Thuan An, Ben Cat, Dat Do, Vung Tau) to ensure 100% of facilities and households (signing contracts with power units) are propagandized by the unit about safe power use during the rainy and stormy season. Coordinate with the tree management unit to review power lines with high, large trees that are prone to falling to trim and prevent trees from falling into the power grid.

At the same time, coordinate with telecommunications units to develop priority power retention plans for key BTS stations to ensure smooth communication during storms.
Locations that may be flooded during heavy rain combined with high tides must also be reviewed to proactively cut off electricity in a timely manner, preventing electrical accidents among the people. At the same time, inspect and ensure the safe operation and stability of power systems, electrical equipment, transformer stations, and power works. Ensure a continuous power source 24/24 hours for agencies and units to direct, operate, warn, forecast, prevent and combat natural disasters.
"When there is an incident on the power grid due to bad weather situations or natural disasters, it must be handled immediately to ensure electrical safety for people and the system, not allowing a power leak to occur, causing unsafety for the community" - EVNHCMC directed.
Previously, an electric leak at an electric pole in Nguyen Phuong Danh Park (Can Tho) on October 23 caused a tragic accident that killed two students.
EVNHCMC recommends that people, units, businesses, and production facilities proactively check the electrical systems at their homes and facilities to ensure electrical safety.
When detecting an incident or suspecting an incident, do not automatically handle it but proactively contact the power company that supplies the electricity or contact EVNHCMC 1900545454 Customer Care hotline for timely instructions.
