Pouring nearly 1,700 billion VND into renovating the runway of Da Nang Airport

Da Nang - The Ministry of Construction has just approved the project to renovate the runway of Da Nang International Airport with a total capital of nearly 1,700 billion VND.

On August 24, information from the Ministry of Construction, this agency issued a Decision approving the investment policy of the Project to invest in building and renovating the runway and taxiway of Da Nang International Airport.

The project's objective is to upgrade and renovate the existing runway infrastructure and taxiway system to ensure safe and efficient operation of large aircraft types (code E) such as B747, B787, A350 or equivalent. From there, meet the increasing demand for air transport, serve socio-economic development and ensure national defense and security for Da Nang city as well as the central coastal region.

The project belongs to group B with a total investment of about 1,696 billion VND, using 100% of the central budget capital. The project implementation period is expected to take place in the period from 2026 to 2028.

According to the decision, the Ministry of Construction is the decision-making authority for investment and assigns the Thang Long Project Management Board to be the project investor. The investment scale will renovate the 17R/35L runway, auxiliary landing equipment system and existing taxiways, ensuring to meet airport standard 4E of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The project will build 1 new rapid taxiway for runway 17R/35L; 1 taxiway connecting runway 17R/35L with 17L/35R; 1 taxiway connecting runway 17L/35R with parallel taxiway E. At the same time, renovate the drainage system to connect synchronously with the surrounding technical infrastructure.

The Ministry of Construction requests the Thang Long Project Management Board to urgently prepare a feasibility study report and study a plan to accelerate the implementation progress to put the project into operation soon.

After completion, the investor will hand over the infrastructure to Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) for management and operation. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) are responsible for coordinating and investing in works to ensure synchronous flight operations with the new infrastructure.
