Responding to the National Disaster Prevention Week 2026, Tan Son Nhat International Airport (HKQT) has just simultaneously activated measures to prevent and respond to incidents. The goal is to ensure absolute safety for people and property as well as maintain stable flight operations.
The unit has thoroughly implemented the motto "Four on-the-spot" and "Three ready". Accordingly, the Port arranges personnel to be on duty 24/24 hours during storms and floods to promptly handle any arising situations.

To prevent the risk of flooding, the Port is accelerating the dredging progress of the open ditch system in the airfield area to synchronously connect with the city's drainage network.
Key areas such as station drainage ditches, aircraft parking yards, car parking lots and regulating lakes are being urgently cleaned and dredged to maximize drainage capacity.
In addition, functional forces have measured and inspected the entire lightning protection system. The roof structure of the station and office has also been inspected to thoroughly prevent roof blowing or leaks.
In this phase, the Youth Union force of the Port also directly launched a campaign to sweep and collect garbage in the area of domestic passenger terminal T3 and sanitize the air traffic area.
Regarding operating operations, Tan Son Nhat International Airport strengthens close monitoring of weather developments, continuously inspects and assesses the surface condition of the runway.
This information is updated and promptly warned to air traffic control units, airlines and flight crews to proactively plan safe take-off and landing.
The port also requires ground service units to strictly comply with operating regulations in dangerous weather conditions. Vehicles and equipment must be secured and moved to a safe gathering location.
In particular, projects under construction and repair in the airfield area must have measures to cover, anchor materials, and fences to prevent wind blowing, causing unsafe operation.
In the area inside the terminal, passenger protection is strictly controlled. The cleaning service provider must ensure that the terminal lobby is always dry, and absolutely do not let passengers slip and fall due to rainwater.
At the same time, the power grid safety in the rainy and storm season is carefully reviewed. All vehicles and equipment for disaster prevention and search and rescue are inspected, maintained and ready to be discharged from the warehouse to serve emergency rescue work when requested.
