Checking alcohol concentration, Ho Chi Minh City fines nearly 900 cases in 1 day
On January 3rd, the Traffic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police (PC08) said that during the 2026 New Year holiday, the unit has synchronously implemented many solutions to ensure traffic order and safety (TTATGT), focusing on strengthening patrols, controls and strictly handling violations that are direct causes of traffic accidents.
According to the Traffic Police Department, from December 31, 2025 to January 2, 2026, the traffic police force of the whole city has made records of handling 6,399 cases of traffic safety violations. Notably, 2,075 cases of alcohol concentration violations, especially on January 2, 2026, up to 886 cases were fined.

Big fish follow the tide, making a living on deeply flooded rice fields
During the flood season, many fields in My Tu commune (Can Tho City) are deeply flooded, unable to produce, farmers take advantage of water storage, releasing natural fish fry throughout the flood season. Fish are raised mainly with natural feed sources such as plankton, algae and organisms in the fields, so feed costs are almost non-existent.
After 3-4 months of farming, the fish reaches a weight of 0.8–1 kg/fish, harvesting with a fairly good yield, bringing a stable source of income for farmers. Mr. Dang Van Doi (My Tu commune, Can Tho city) said that raising fish on rice fields helps each hectare of field (1000 m2) bring a profit of about 1 million VND, while growing flooded rice crops is almost unprofitable.
