On June 11, the Department of Science and Technology of Vinh Long province organized a workshop with the theme "Intellectual property accompanies farmers and businesses", attracting the participation of provincial leaders, departments, branches, localities, businesses, cooperatives, OCOP entities, production and business establishments and many organizations and individuals in the province.
The workshop aims to propagate and disseminate new regulations of the law on intellectual property, and at the same time raise awareness about registration, protection and exploitation of intellectual property.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Quynh Thien - Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee said that in the context of integration and increasingly high market requirements, products that want to effectively participate in the domestic and foreign value chains need to meet many standards, in which intellectual property registration is a necessary requirement.
According to Mr. Nguyen Quynh Thien, Vinh Long has great potential to develop agricultural products, seafood, OCOP and traditional craft villages. Over the past time, policies to support intellectual property development have been implemented synchronously, along with the proactiveness of businesses and farmers, contributing to building brands and improving the value of local products.
Besides the achieved results, intellectual property development still has limitations such as low product competitiveness, small production scale, and incomplete protection registration. The comrade wished the workshop to become a forum for exchanging experiences and removing obstacles in brand building, protection registration, trademark development and geographical indications.
At the workshop, delegates listened to Mr. Hoang Anh - Deputy Head of the Legal and Policy Department, Intellectual Property Office disseminate the new points of the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Intellectual Property; guide the application of new regulations and introduce related decrees and circulars.

At the workshop, Mr. Tran Giang Khue - Head of the Representative Office of the Intellectual Property Office in Ho Chi Minh City guided the process of registering for protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights, helping organizations and individuals improve the efficiency of asset use.
Delegates also listened to presentations on intellectual property development for OCOP products, policies to support businesses in protecting intellectual property assets, the connecting role in intellectual property rights registration and support policies of the province.
The workshop also devoted time for delegates to exchange, discuss and answer practical issues related to registration, protection, and exploitation of intellectual property, contributing to improving the effectiveness of intellectual property application in production and business activities in the province.
