Releasing rare Java pangolins to the forest in Cat Tien National Park

Khanh Hoa - After receiving a rare Java pangolin, functional forces handed it over to Cat Tien National Park for rescue and re-release to nature.

On June 30, news from Dien Lam Commune Police said that they had supported people to hand over a rare Java pangolin for conservation and release back to the natural environment.

Previously, while moving on Huong Lo 39, when arriving at Phu Coc Bridge area, a group of 5 local youths discovered a pangolin individual.

Realizing that this is a rare and precious wild animal that needs to be protected, the group of young people took the pangolin to the Dien Lam Commune Police headquarters to report and hand it over to functional agencies.

After receiving it, Dien Lam Commune Police conducted an inspection and recorded the initial characteristics of the animal individual.

Through preliminary inspection, this is a male pangolin, about 60cm long, weighing about 2kg, with basically stable health.

To ensure proper care and conservation of endangered, precious and rare wild animals, Dien Lam Commune Police have coordinated to support bringing pangolins to Dien Lam Commune Economic Department for reception, management and handling.

After a period of monitoring, care and completion of necessary procedures according to regulations, the Economic Department coordinated to hand over the Java pangolin individual to representatives of Cat Tien National Park.

The Java pangolin will continue to be cared for, rescued, conserved and implement re-release to the natural environment according to regulations.

The fact that the group of young people proactively handed over rare and precious wild animal individuals shows a sense of responsibility in environmental protection, biodiversity conservation and compliance with the provisions of law.
