Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a Decision on investment policy for the Rach Tra tide control culvert construction project, invested by the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board.
Rach Tra tide control gate will combine with the existing irrigation system to control tides, drain water, and reduce flooding for 37,162 hectares of land in the communes of: Dong Thanh, Binh My, Hoc Mon, Phu Hoa Dong, Cu Chi, Xuan Thoi Son, Ba Diem, Vinh Loc, Tan Vinh Loc and Binh Loi.
In addition, the project also contributes to increasing water storage in canals, ensuring water supply in the dry season and reducing pollution for the Hoc Mon - Bac Binh Chanh irrigation system, as well as the Tham Luong - Ben Cat - Rach Nuoc Len canal system.
The project is implemented in Dong Thanh and Binh My communes, with an expected implementation time from 2026 - 2029.
The project has a total investment of more than 1,230 billion VND from the Ho Chi Minh City budget.
The investment scale includes a tide control gate 80 m wide (2 compartments), 5 m deep, a steel valve gate controlled by hydraulic cylinders, reinforced concrete structure, and a foundation treated with reinforced concrete piles.
Boat shelter 15 m wide, 5 m deep, controlled by hydraulic cylinder, reinforced concrete structure. Management - operation house 300 m2 wide.
