On August 11, information from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ninh province said that the Sub-Department of Sea, Islands and Fisheries, Fisheries Resources Surveillance of the province has just organized inspection and control of aquatic activities at wharves and yards in the area.
During the period from September 1 to August 8, the inspection team inspected and controlled 4 wharves, yards and 30 fishing boats. Through this, functional forces discovered a fishing boat with acts of conversion but without a written approval from a competent state agency.
The violating case was administratively fined 35 million VND.
Arbitrarily renovating, upgrading, changing structures or replacing engines with larger capacity without fully completing procedures may change the technical characteristics of ships, affecting stability, surface resilience and safety when operating at sea.
The improper conversion of fishing vessels also causes difficulties for registration, fleet management, exploitation capacity control and traceability of seafood.
Functional agencies require ship owners when they need to convert vehicles to fully comply with procedures for registration, inspection and related regulations before putting ships into operation.
