New cycle for old items, where waste is regenerated

HUYỀN TRANG |

The "Gom tặng đồ cũ" project is opening a new cycle, where waste is regenerated and love is given to people in difficult circumstances.

When old items are given away instead of being left behind

In modern life, many items are only used a few times and then forgotten. Instead of being discarded, many people today choose to bring valuable items to receiving points to continue to regenerate the life cycle of use.

After each house cleaning, Ms. Pham Minh Huyen (25 years old, Hanoi) brings sorted and washed clothes and books to the receiving point of TAGOM (a garbage collection and recycling organization that helps waste to be treated and reused, extending the life cycle of materials).

I think items in the house, if they are still usable, should not be discarded. Knowing that they can be given directly to those in need, I am even more motivated to sort and keep them more carefully," Ms. Pham Minh Huyen shared.

Also participating in the activity, Mr. Le Minh Hoang (30 years old, Hanoi) said that the project helps him change his perspective on old clothes in daily life.

“Before, I often threw away quite a few good-using items. But when participating in TAGOM, I understood that each item can continue its life cycle if connected to the right place, to the right person,” said Mr. Hoang.

Connect to get old things to the right people

The "Gom tặng đồ cũ" project is built to create a bridge between givers and receivers, ensuring that items are reused effectively and to the right recipients.

Old items after collection will be carefully sorted by volunteers, removing items that are no longer usable and keeping good items," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh - Co-founder of TAGOM.

After that, organize direct connections with local authorities, school unions and charity groups in remote and isolated areas to determine actual needs before donating.

“We always try to get each item to the right person they need. The donation trips are all carried out directly to ensure the transparency and meaning of the activity,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh added.

It is known that TAGOM was established on June 5, 2022, with 15 core members and hundreds of collaborators from environmental clubs in Hanoi.

“We often target the main target group of students and workers, groups that have the ability to access and maintain a sustainable lifestyle. Through this, we can spread the spirit of green living to more people,” shared Mr. Vu Duc Chung - Co-founder of TAGOM.

In the near future, TAGOM plans to expand more waste sorting practice stations in many localities, and develop environmental education programs to spread the habit of green living in the community.

Each given item is not only material support but also a way to spread a sustainable lifestyle. We hope that every citizen can start from the smallest actions to create major changes for the environment," Mr. Vu Duc Chung emphasized.
