On June 7, Tam Thang Ward Police (HCMC) said they had worked with 2 subjects, D. T. T (born in 1997) and P.V. D (born in 1995), both residing in the area, on the act of abusing and forcing children to help with street vendors.
Previously, through area management, Tam Thang Ward Police grasped the situation of young children not being allowed to go to school, being abused by relatives, forced to sell goods on the street, so they verified and worked with the subjects.
During the working process, the 2 subjects confessed to raising 7 children (born in 2011 to 2021). Among them, 3 children are the common children of the 2 subjects; 2 children are the riêng children of D. T. T; 2 children are the biological younger siblings of D. T. T. In the past time, both of them forced the children to help sell fruit to customers at pubs, and had acts of beating some children for disobeying.
Tam Thang Ward Police have taken deterrence measures, requiring subjects to write commitments not to repeat the use of children to sell goods on the street; not to develop acts of violence against children. At the same time, consolidate dossiers to handle subjects according to regulations.
In addition, the case was also advised by Tam Thang Ward Police to the Party Committee and People's Committee of Tam Thang Ward to direct relevant departments to jointly intervene to ensure the rights and safety of the children involved, have strict monitoring measures, and prevent any further acts of violence and labor exploitation against children in the area.
