On September 19, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Tran Quoc Nam issued a document directing units and localities to strengthen the implementation of ensuring order and safety of railway traffic corridors and thoroughly handle the situation of self-opened crossings across railways.
By July 2025, there are still 2,828 self-opened crossings nationwide on railway lines that need to be fenced off and eliminated. In Khanh Hoa province alone, there are 151 locations that need to be handled.
Accordingly, the People's Committees of localities with railways passing through must strengthen management and protection of railway infrastructure; coordinate with Vietnam Railway Corporation to urgently implement compensation and site clearance at locations violating the railway traffic safety corridor.
Localities must also review and identify locations of dangerous self-opened crossings, fence off and eliminate them to the maximum extent without building auxiliary works such as service roads and overpasses.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, the Department of Construction, the Provincial Police, and localities to step up propaganda of the Railway Law and regulations on traffic safety at intersections, raising awareness and sense of law compliance of the people.
The Provincial Traffic Safety Committee is responsible for urging, synthesizing results, reporting and advising the Provincial People's Committee to handle arising problems.
