The folk song play "Khoang troi con gai" about the legend of Nga ba Dong Loc and the heroic sacrifice of 10 female youth volunteers directed by the Ha Tinh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The play was written by poet Nguyen Si Dai, a son of Can Loc homeland, former reporter of Nhan Dan Newspaper. He based it on materials that he painstakingly researched for decades, and also real experiences when living with youth volunteer units and soldiers during the war years.
Poet Nguyen Si Dai said that the play is built in an integrated direction to effectively utilize art genres and modern technical methods; based on fully and truthfully preserving historical facts as well as maximizing the use of local language, hidden artistic techniques to the simplest possible level.
Previously, "Khoang troi con gai" was performed at Nga Ba Dong Loc Relic Site on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Dong Loc Victory (2018), attracting 6,000 spectators and causing a great stir in the public.
This year, the play is more complete by People's Artist Hong Luu and Meritorious Artist Ngoc Cam in the role of artistic directors; performed by Ha Tinh Traditional Art Theater; Music and orchestral direction are performed by Artist Quoc Dung; Sound is performed by Hoai Nam and lighting is in charge by Duc Anh.
According to People's Artist Hong Luu, the re-staging of the work also contributes to spreading profound humanistic values to the audience, especially the younger generation, in order to help arouse gratitude to previous generations.
Mr. Kieu Cong Thuoc - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Cultural Industry Development Association, and also the Director of the public performance organization, added that the play "Khoang troi con gai" will help the public have the opportunity to better understand the cultural, historical and intangible heritage values of the locality.
After bringing the play to the public in many localities, "Khoang troi con gai" will gradually modernize in its approach and promotion to attract more attention from many generations of audiences.
The folk song play from Nghe An "Khoang troi con gai" will be premiered to Hanoi audiences on War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27) and will be performed in some northern provinces such as Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa...
