In Binh Thuan, from late May to early June, many tragic drowning incidents occurred consecutively, with young people and students as victims.
Most recently, at noon on June 3 in Mui Ne ward, Phan Thiet city, a 9th grade male student and a group of friends went to a pond, a deep hole formed from the previous mineral exploitation activities to play. While swimming in the pond, this male student drowned and went missing. People searched for and pulled the body ashore.

Previously, on the afternoon of June 2, a group of 6 young men swam in the Phan Thiet port area when they encountered a thunderstorm that exhausted them. After being rescued by fishing boats and border guards, 5 people went safely to shore, while a young man born in 2005 sank and went missing. On the morning of June 7, the young man's body was found drifting quite far from Phan Thiet port.

On the afternoon of May 29, at Hoa Thang beach, Bac Binh district, on the occasion of summer vacation, a group of 8 teenagers and students from neighboring localities came here to picnic and swim. While swimming, this group encountered a whirlwind, in which 7 students were lucky to escape and get to shore safely. In particular, a child born in 2008 was swept away by waves and went missing. The next day, the victim's body was found.
Previously, on the afternoon of May 1, a tourist from Dong Nai province came to the stream area of La Nguu commune, Tanh Linh district to picnic and camp on his own and drowned after bathing.
These are recent drowning incidents in Binh Thuan province and ring the alarm bell about drowning accidents in the summer.

According to the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department of Binh Thuan Province, in the summer, in many cases, the family did not follow closely, leading to the children often gathered and invited each other to swim and bathe in dams, rivers and streams but lack of swimming skills, wading, leading to the risk of drowning. This unit recommends that, absolutely do not jump into the water if you do not know how to swim and do not know how to drown, because the victim is in a state of panic, easy to cling to anything with, including rescue. When rescuing victims in the water, the victim should raise the head of the victims protruding from the surface of the water, which helps the victims calm and breathe.
In fact, drowning is also likely to occur by the subjective psychology of students and adults, when many people from other places come, do not understand the characteristics of the sea, ponds and lakes in the area, so they see smooth waves, shallow water has been showering with the psychology of "bathing close", "shallow water".

Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Minh has issued instructions on preventing and combating drowning for children in the area. In particular, promoting inter-sectoral coordination in communication work by all means to families to manage children during the 2025 summer vacation.
Localities encourage families to proactively take their children to learn safe swimming and learn safe skills in water environments; families should not let their children swim in canals, ditches, rivers, streams, ponds, lakes, seas, etc. and play in places at risk of drowning without adults who can swim with them. Review and map locations, water areas, and works at risk of drowning to implement remedial and warning measures.
